One-year assignment supporting a larger philanthropic initiative of the university to increase the business capabilities of locally owned companies in the countries of West Africa.

Expanded duties from the prior role with the addition of Eastern Europe to lead one of KC’s four global regions in its Developing and Emerging Markets Group. Responsible for consumer business interests in 80+ countries, 2009 turnover ~$1 billion with 3000 employees in five major operating units. Under a largely decentralized management structure, established the region as a key growth engine for the corporation.

Led K-C’s +50% joint venture with general management responsibility for the sub-equatorial countries, of which South Africa was the largest. Restructured the +$135 million turnover, 1100 employee business in late 1999 with a largely new management team, and improved organization design and business processes. Facilitated the engagement of a new partner in the post apartheid business environment.

General Manager responsible for K-C’s consumer and B2B business interests in Thailand, including full P&L accountability. Created a +$125 million business in 1996 by merging the local operating companies of K-C and Scott Paper as part of the global merger of the two corporations.

Managed a US-based team that leveraged a broad set of K-C functional resources to support business development and improvement programs for operating units worldwide.

Continuous progression of line and staff positions in K-C’s manufacturing organizations in North America culminating in mill management responsibilities.

Served as an Air Defense Artillery officer in West Germany.
