The achievement I’m most proud is not about developing a metric or report that saved my company millions of dollars – it is about a microwave oven.About 12 years ago, a few months after I got my first ever pay check, I asked my mom what she’d like as a gift– a small token of appreciation for all her help and support throughout the years. After a lot of coaxing, she told me that she’d like a microwave for the kitchen. Elated at the fact that I’d be able to provide my mother with something that’d make her life better, I set out to find the perfect product. I had several parameters to work with: capacity, wattage, additional features, brand, customer reviews and above all my limited budget. I read through countless ‘Things to Know when buying a Microwave’ websites, spent hours devouring customer review sections of each and every brand. I created a spreadsheet with all the options worth considering and assigned them a score from 1-10 for each of the parameters. I provided my mom with my top 3 choices and reasons for choosing them, and she chose the one that she loved the most. When I made the order online, I was told that they don’t ship to my hometown. I was momentarily disheartened, but I picked up the phone, spoke to a customer care agent and found the list of zip codes in my state they’d deliver the product to. I talked to a few of my friends and I finally found a person I trust who stays within the company’s delivery zone, and with their help I got the product sent to my parent’s house.That one purchase I made years ago, most accurately depicts who I am as a person. When faced with a problem, I do thorough research to understand the nuances. I can quickly get a good grasp of an ambiguous situation/requirement and I love breaking down the problem into smaller chunks to resolve it. I enjoy presenting complex ideas in a succinct manner, to an audience who may not necessarily be technical. I’m resourceful- I have a knack for finding the right person in the right team who can help me with the solution. Above all, I value my persistence and perseverance. Even when the going gets tough and things look bleak, I don’t give up easy - I power through. It is the same values and passions that drive me to do a stellar job in helping businesses understand their data better, in helping companies derive insights from their key performance metrics.
