My work at AWEPA focused mainly on human rights issues and government institutions. I was fortunate to work with many elected officials from various countries, most frequently with the Deputy Speaker of the Irish Parliament. I produced informational materials on the UN Millennium Development Goals for Members of the Irish Parliament. I also participated in an international AWEPA conference in Brussels, educating Irish Members of Parliament on aid effectiveness. I collaborated with my supervisor on a proposal to send Irish troops to the Congo to combat gender-based violence, and we prepared for and coordinated the visit of a delegation of Kenyan Parliamentarians. Finally, I collaborated on speaking notes for both current and former Members of the Irish Parliament.

My main responsibility at Conference and Events was customer service. As part of a 10-person team, I provided comprehensive 24/7 support to 6,000 residential guests from numerous external groups and organizations. Working in more detail with particular clients, especially sports groups, I organized all aspects of a group’s visit, including facilities, housing, meals, and interfacing with all other campus departments.

For my professionalism and independent work ethic, I was selected among the top 20% of candidates to positively represent Stonehill College. I participated in informational sessions addressing all aspects of student life, and led tours of the campus for prospective students and members of the public. By getting to know our guests, and what interested them, I was able to tailor my tours and information to each particular group. Working as part of an 80-person Ambassador team, we represented Stonehill to approximately 8,000 annual campus visitors.
