About Thomas Lidy

With 20 years of experience in Music Tech & AI, I have led teams in startups as well as a 1000 people company.After years of research starting in 2004, I have created one of the first Machine Learning based Music Tech startups in 2008. As the CEO I have raised funds, scaled the team, expanded to the US and launched the first music discovery app for the iPad (sonarflow) in 2010, later joining Musimap on an augmented mission to deliver completely novel emotion-AI based music solutions to the industry. Musimap got acquired by Utopia Music, where I held the position of Senior Director of AI & Data Science until recently.In various positions, I gathered 20 years of experience in Machine Learning, AI, music technology, data mining, audio content analysis & music recommendation, knowing very well both the academic domain as well as the music business and related industries.I have 14 years of leadership experience as the founder and CEO of Spectralmind, Chief Product Officer at myr:conn, Chief Innovation Officer / Head of Machine Learning at Musimap and Senior Director of AI & Data Science at Utopia Music.I have founded and am hosting the Vienna Deep Learning Meetup since 2015, have won a number of contests in music analysis and Deep Learning and am a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences such as World Summit AI, Data Innovation Summit, SXSW, MIDEM, VentureBeat MobileBeat, Startup Conference Mountain View, California Music Industry Summit, Wallifornia Music Tech, MusicTechFest, PopKomm, ISMIR, ICMC, etc., at universities such as CEU and NYU Shanghai, and various meetups.With my strong expertise both on the technological side, solid know-how in Machine Learning & AI, good understanding of business and industry and excellent leadership skills, I am open for a new position where I can excel in combining my skillsets.I am open for positions both in startups and in larger companies, on-site or remote.
