As Database Administrator, I was in charge of all production, development and test system databases and servers. The DBA work included a SQL Transaction Replication to a Data Warehouse and offline reporting system and Database Mirroring to Disaster site. The applications needed performance tuning T-SQL and proper indexing and maintenance.Eventually, the company hire 4 more DBAs over the 5 years I was there and I became a Senior DBA. We handled database design and validation, proper indexing and optimization of T-SQL queries. The OLTP and OLAP systems ranging from 100GBs to 800GBs.We implemented and maintained multiple SQL Server clusters with help from Scalibility Experts. Idera's Diagnostic Manager help use with estimating database file growth and historical performance indicators to grow the hardware systems. After using Confio's Ignite to find long wait state queries and processes in the data warehouse system, I was able to reduce the DW Monthly Process from 2 days(48+ hours) to 10 hours and maintain that performance. This enabled me to move to the Business Intelligence team.
