Co-develop manufacturing processes that align product design with fabrication processes.Projects include: collapsible structures, personal electronic devices, sleep apnea therapy device, dual camera alignment methods, adjustable annuloplasti device, optics mounts and enclosures, composite propeller blade fabrication, design and partial fabrication of micro-positioner for on-die wafer tester, design and fabrication of submersible electro-optic enclosures. Fabricate EAA aircraft, racecar and offshore boating parts, optics mounts and waterproof electro-optic enclosures using manual and CNC machinery.

Responsible to define and manage the implementation of Design for Manufacturing ( DFM / DFA / DFX ) architecture into wireless products and production process equipment. Primary technical contact for design transfer to Production and feedback to Engineering. Represent Production and Service interests on concept development teams. Impact areas: manufacturability analysis; resolve conflicting design vs. production requirements; write standardized build instructions; develop and manage implementation of new manufacturing technologies; design and manage delivery and qualification of assembly tooling and fixtures; critique PWB / Flex designs for assembly and tooling considerations; create cycle time / assembly time / Takt time estimations (manual and automated); design and manage delivery and implementation of new production equipment, assembly lines and workstations. Extended resource to Mechanical Engineering team to assist with material selection and process development of: CNC milling and metal forming of Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium and ‘Liquid Metal’; investment casting; plastic injection molding and two-shot molding; forging; optical alignment and laser welding. Responsibilities: oversee prototype and pilot builds, collaborate with remote factory assembly teams in contract manufacturing ( CM / ODM ), new product introduction ( NPI ), and support factory final assembly teams to resolve pilot production, ramp-up and product launch matters. Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods to eliminate non-value-added steps, reduce cost and shorten lead times. Typically allocated to programs from early design/concept development through pilot/pre-production into stable production. Connector design patent application 14/310464 accepted into USPTO in July 2014. Extensive work with Sourcing, Supplier Partners, Model Shop, Industrial Engineering, Product Test, Metrology and Supplier Quality and Process Quality groups.

Provide product development expertise and Design for Assembly guidance for electro-mechanical design, planetary gearbox design and process engineering of window shade drive motors and brand specific adapter kits. Manufacturing contact for technology transfer and line support to Maquiladora Supplier Partners. Impact areas included: advise material selection, plastic injection molded part design and die cast metal part design, devise method/volume matrices, write assembly instructions, design / fabricate assembly tooling, provide Takt time estimates, develop SPC methods and provide Quality feedback, develop and implement pilot production lines.
