I managed an online website and monthly print publication that focused on the Mexico-US relationship. I worked with the owner and the publisher to manage the budget, hire staff and plan operations. In conjunction with the managing editor, I planned content for both the website and the magazine and coordinated with the design team to create the magazine from cover to cover. I worked with columnists and freelance reporters to produce and schedule contributions. I edited content, wrote commentary, special reports and news articles and conducted feature interviews.

Mexico City

The News - an English-language newspaper in Mexico City - was relaunched in 2007 after a 5-year absence. As editor in chief, I was charged with hiring staff, writing ethics and editorial policy, designing content strategies and working in conjunction with the publisher and the owners to train the staff to launch a new daily newspaper. I managed the editorial budget, hired columnists and contracted wire services and syndicated content. Once we launched, I oversaw daily production processes, planned features and special reports, wrote a daily "Letter from the Editor" and filled in where necessary as section editor, reporter and copy editor. The News was sold in late May 2009 and the entire staff was laid off.
