My professional experience began as a soccer official. My communication with adults in a tense situation of a competitive soccer match was first introduced to me professionally at this time. I developed the ability to de-escalate the intensity of the matches to lead to more civil discussions and arguments during games. From this point, I made a connection with the head manager of the referee staff, who recommended I join the staff at the city pool. I completed my American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR skills test to get this job. While lifeguarding, I ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for patrons. It was crucial to be hospitable and serve as a leader to protect the safety of others simultaneously. In my second summer season at the pool, I was given the opportunity to be employed as a manager of the lifeguards. This was a new challenge and a position I found I excelled in doing. I was tasked with ensuring the lifeguards on duty were taking the necessary precautions to keep the pool safe, while also dealing with tense customer interactions regarding pool policies, and general pool operation. In high school, I received a number of athletic awards, including the Farm Bureau Heart of a Champion award, given to a few athletes yearly in the NCHSAA. I was also a state champion in swimming and an All-State goalkeeper.I then moved to Banner Elk, NC, where I now am continuing my academic goal and professional endeavor of becoming a physical therapist. I am majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy, and have a strong GPA standing. I am on the Men's Soccer team and compete at the NCAA D2 level. I have been awarded the Men's Team Award twice, and have been awarded a memorial scholarship for an LMCMSOC team member who passed away saving friends in an accident. I worked for two summers at Diamond Creek Golf Club, a nationally ranked, private golf club. I worked as a member services associate. I learned how to professionally communicate with prominent individuals over the phone, in email, and conversationally. I was taught professionalism practices daily, and hospitality at the highest level of service. I am now applying to Physical Therapy school where I seek to continue my education to the Doctoral level.
