Professionally educated at the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture, with further graduate studies in architecture principally conducted under Renaissance historians at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, notably as Henry A. Millon’s last student. Additional studies in the humanities were completed at the University of Chicago Graham School, and in business through the Quantic School of Business and Technology. Knowledgeable in multiple project delivery methods, with a core emphasis on cultural and religious architecture, urban development, and the stewardship of historic properties. Presently targeting community-defined design challenges, with a particular concern for the diverse needs of faith-based nonprofit clientele. Past built typological experience includes the design and renovation of federal buildings, federal museums, private clubs, private schools, Jewish synagogues, Catholic churches, Orthodox churches, Protestant churches, residential chapels, private oratories, office facilities, media studios, commercial storefronts, urban residences, and historic estates. Academic interests derive from Christian liturgy, intellectual history, and questions of urban imagery.Active Board experience includes the direction of an independent 501(c)(3) regional chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism, serving the states and cities of the Ohio Valley region. Additional nonprofit work includes the administration of The Saints and Scholars Foundation, a 501(c)(3) establishing a new model of faithful Catholic education for Ireland through an independent, lay-run, classical pedagogical paradigm.
