Most recent employment detail:At Henderson & Mills we garnered a strong reputation for producing high quality furniture with an emphasis on excellent service. Everything was fully bespoke and made to measure so planning was key to making sure everything was built to the right sizes and would fit the spaces exactly.Although, as the business owner, I would get involved in all of the processes - anything from spray finishing to cutting dovetails - some of the more relevant roles included:• Responding to enquires and visiting potential clients for design consultations. I felt like I was good at selling our services and approach to people. I'm honest, trustworthy and presentable which went a long way. Of the projects that I went to see I was able to convert a high percentage of them into our customers.• Pricing system - I developed a detailed pricing system using the Ninox platform. I couldn't find an app off the shelf would quite do the job that I needed so I built my own. The system is flexible but specific enough to select different materials, finishes, cabinet sizes and door styles to generate accurate quotes.• Design Proposals - In conjunction with the above I would draw up initial proposals for clients. This enabled us to communicate what we could create for them in an exciting way and use it as a basis for our quotations. Once a client was on board I would then draw up more detailed models and plans for their approval.• Construction drawings and cut sheets - I built a library of dynamic modelled components that enabled me to convert designs into cut sheets and construction documents efficiently. Our workshop plans were quite detailed, even down to the locations of fixings to be machined.• Workshop management - I oversaw a small team and aimed to keep the workshop running smoothly and efficiently. I was responsible for ordering materials, hardware and finishes and making sure it was all delivered in good time.• Book keeping, payroll and cashflow forecasting.
