A privately held family global manufacturer of energy bars and nutritional foods with $150M in sales which we sold to Nestle S.A. in 2000.As a key member of the executive team, steered the company’s full P&L for International operations, customer service, new product R&D, manufacturing, distribution, technical services, engineering, purchasing, and human resources. Led and managed subsidiary in Germany.• Played instrumental role in the sale of the company to Nestle for a multiple of 3.5, the highest ever paid for a food company.• Drove the growth and transformation of the company from $70M in sales to $150M, from two product lines to seven, with 300 employees. • Maximized executive team performance and maintained the entrepreneurial culture throughout the company with “Play to Win” training.• Initiated the manufacture of PowerBars and PowerBar Recovery Powder in Europe, utilizing contract manufacturing to deliver freshest possible product to market, and to meet new regulatory requirements. Consolidated the sales and marketing efforts in Europe to a direct sales force.• Oversaw a new Boise, Idaho factory, which produced over one million PowerBars daily. Built a state of the art distribution center there as well, which was opened on time and under budget. Added a Charlotte, North Carolina facility for East Coast distribution.• Advised PowerBar Board members including Founder and CEO Brian Maxwell, Warren Hellman, Steve Young and Larry Sonsini. • Developed and launched four new product lines with multiple flavors within one year. Led R&D to generate 20 new food prototypes, five of which were launched by Nestle after acquisition of the company.
