From a very young age I started working with various local farms, landscapers, and construction companies. My family and I come from a small town with no real traffic lights and more cows than people (not literally) but this small town upbringing afforded me the opportunity to establish a great work ethic and create the caring attitude that I have continued to carry with me throughout my career.

What drew me to a career at Charter Oak was the chance to receive highly regarded training, and to work alongside some of the best in the industry. Charter Oak encompassed two of the things I was looking for the most: a small-town family feeling, and an unmatched professional atmosphere all in one. I look forward to creating a long-lasting career that will not only be beneficial to me, but my clients as well.

I spent the entirety of my time in the reserve, but it taught me a lot about life, and gave me things that otherwise may not have been possible. It afforded me the opportunity to attend, and graduate college. It gave me friends and mentors that I will never forget and know I can always lean on. I traveled all over the country and saw a lot of different things. A small town construction company that gave me shot as a young kid, I started digging foundations and ended as the sole financial analyst. I used my education, and 60 hour a week work ethic to create an accounting sector for the business from scratch. John, the owner, is a fantastic guy and an even better boss. Anyone remotely interested in having construction work done should seriously take a look at his company.

Possibly my favorite job as a young kid, it was one of my first tastes of a structured hierarchy. I usually competed with college students for hours and being one of the youngest on the crew I typically drew the short straw. That meant I was opening the pool in the mornings, and coming back to close at night. Getting paid to sit in the sun all day and swim on lunch break wasn't all that bad though. 4 saves.

Anyone that’s ever worked for a fast food chain knows what it’s like to dread going to work. Although I didn’t necessarily get the fulfillment of professional achievement working at McDonalds it did help me build friendships with people I otherwise might not have. It also gave me my first taste of what a corporate structure looked like, which confirmed what I already believed - it really just wasn’t for me.
