Research Officer for the Education portfolio in the Welsh Parliament, inspired by the work of academics and experts in the social research field in addressing social inequities in terms of access to education; educational outcomes and attainment; and the promotion of informed, evidence-based research to produce effective policy solutions to improve educational standards and opportunities.I have an aptitude for both independent and collaborative working, demonstrated in developing policy papers in a variety of areas in the Welsh Education sector. I am keen to develop my skills in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis to further develop a career in social research: specialising in early years education policy.Education is the single-most important aspect in anyone’s life. Good standards of teaching and learning can enhance people’s future opportunities both in their working and social lives. I believe there is enormous scope for improving educational opportunities and outcomes in Wales, the UK, and the world more generally. This can be achieved through effective collaboration and the sharing of informed ideas to develop coherent, evidence-based policy to improve ways of working, working conditions, and raise educational standards.I am accustomed to working with a colourful range of different stakeholders. My drive to broaden and deepen my understanding of any topic proves useful in working to address all kinds of issues; from subjective casework challenges, to national policy development. I enjoy working with different specialists on their line of work to improve my understanding of the subject and how to find robust solutions to difficult problems.I highly value cross-sector, international collaboration. I have experience working with different legislatures and sector experts in developing policies fit for the needs of different industries. Adaptability is one of my key strengths: ensuring different issues are considered according to their unique requirements is paramount in devising the range of policy proposals I have. Alongside this, my critically and laterally guided mindset, helps to inform constructive discussion and debate to inevitably lead to positive proposals of purposeful and meaningful change.
