About Thomas Pires

Tom Pires is an executive focused on building a solid team that will work together to overcome obstacles. For the last 18 years, he's worked at a specialty MSP focused on Retail Point of Sale. Tom's first job was in the Army, where he learned how to get many people from dissimilar backgrounds to work together. After the Army, Tom obtained a couple of management positions in the retail and fast-food industries. He then transitioned to the technology field, working as a technical consultant in a small computer repair shop. He graduated with an AS Degree in Networking Technologies. After relocating to the East Coast, Tom started as a network engineer for a Small Retail Point of Sale Value Added Reseller (VAR), concentrating on moving the company into Managed Services Provider. At that time, this philosophy was called Application Service Providers. He has taken VAR from a single hosted customer with over 30 private cloud customers and 175 standard support customers. Five years ago, With Tom's promotion to President of this organization, he focused on moving VAR away from a break/fix MSP to one focused on recurring revenue. He has increased recurring revenue by 276% compared to the year before taking over the President role for the VAR.Tom has had many certifications over the years, including the following. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Systems Administration (MCSA) SQL Server 2012, GIAC Security (GSEC), GIAC Pen Tester (GPEN), and Python certifications.
