About Tom Ramsbottom
Having graduated with a First Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering (MEng) from the University of Bath, I have now re-joined GKN Aerospace on the Global Graduate Scheme. The scheme is 27-months long, with placements in different areas of the business (including one international), and 5 weeks of learning & development around communication, leadership, project management and more.In my first placement I was helping commission a robot cell to automate the cutting, inspection, layup and preforming of dry carbon fibre aero-structure components ready for RTM.I am now working with the automation technology team to develop capability for robotic machining and assembly of large wing structures.My previous experience includes 18 months of R&D in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), and my master's thesis focused on testing novel post-processing routes designed for microstructural manipulation in Titanium alloy produced by Laser Metal Deposition by Wire (LMDw).
