About Thomas Reed
Hello, I am a Principal RF/Microwave MMIC Designer at Raytheon Missiles & Defense. I orchestrate the development of cutting-edge RF microchips used in high power applications for multi-million-dollar radar programs. From initial concept and electrical simulation to guiding the design through CAD (computer-aided design), semiconductor fabrication, engineering test, and production screening, I design with the customer’s needs in mind. With the ability to hyper-focus on complex technical problems, I collaborate with my team to use the highest performance semiconductors to meet aggressive requirements that commercially available components cannot meet.I earned a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from UC Santa Barbara prior to joining Raytheon Technologies. In 2012, I presented my work at IEEE International Microwave Symposium to a packed crowd in Montreal and in surrounding years published dozens of academic papers on solid-state amplifiers designed for up to 300 GHz. I am a Six Sigma specialist. I have been issued 3 patents related to microchips and microwave engineering. With dozens of successful microchip designs, AISES honored me as 2017 AISES Professional of the Year: Most Promising Engineer. On a personal note, I am a member of the Hopi Tribe and have interests including diversity equity & inclusion, frequent flyer travel, personal finance, cello, ukulele, camping, tennis, and enjoying time with my loved ones.~~~Millimeter wave and sub-millimeter wave design, Keysight ADS, Integrated Circuit Design, EM simulation, ADS Momentum, Design Rule Checking, IC Layout, PNA-x, OML and VDI frequency extender modules, microwave probe measurements, High Frequency measurement, pulsed IV, Collaborative work, Working one-on-one, Teaching, MATLAB, Cadence, HFSS, ADS FEM, ADS Momentum
