In 2006, Dr. Richard, as owner of ChemVantage, signed an agreement with Accuform Technologies, LLC to provide novel formulations for herbicides and insecticides, in return for co-ownership of the company and royalty rights. To date, Dr. Richard has developed four proprietary agricultural product formulations, three of which have been granted regulatory approval.Of particular interest are two novel formulations of Clomazone with reduced vapor drift. •Achieved Pharmaceutical Science sales target in first year of operation. The Pharmaceutical Science section leads the company in on time project delivery.•Developed numerous finished product release methods used in successful IND submissions for major clients.•Established quality system that routinely passes both client and governmental audits.•Established first Pharmaceutical Science "Road Show" to increase awareness of Chemir’s presence in the analytical sciences service sector. Personally authored the presentation, and traveled for its delivery to key markets.•As a result of these efforts, the Pharmaceutical Science Group continues to grow, and executes over 100 projects per year for clients in diverse industries.

• Identified proprietary new market opportunity for Covance, wrote corresponding business plan, and presented to the operating committee (CEO and business unit presidents). Appointed to mergers and acquisitions team.• Presentations to large account clients at the request of Covance vice-president of sales and marketing. • Placement of the first "Team IND" Covance award, and three other such programs. •Developed and patented a novel perfluorochemical emulsion, Oxyfluor. This product is expected to be a useful "blood substitute" in surgical hemodilution and shock/trauma resuscitation. There have been no drug related adverse events in surgical clinical trials to date.•Established a working research relationship with 3M to screen and evaluate perfluorochemicals free of common toxicological side effects such as pulmonary hyperinflation and thrombocytopenia. This collaboration resulted in a co-authored patent on the active ingredient of Oxyfluor, perfluorodichlorooctane.•Participated in the negotiation with Baxter Healthcare that led directly to a licensing agreement for Oxyfluor, providing an unrestricted $10 million payment which funded research in other areas.•Developed the production process, including analytical and microbiological QC/QA, for Oxyfluor and successfully transferred the process to Pharmacia (Clayton, NC), where clinical supplies are being produced.•Developed and patented an inexpensive synthetic route to a novel class of alkylglycerophosphoryl chloline based surfactants.•Developed and patented a novel lipid emulsion drug delivery system that reduces the toxicity of Taxol. •Principal investigator and sole author of awarded SBIR grant for a method of delivering therapeutic agents to the lung using novel water in perfluorochemical (WIP) microemulsions.•Developed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents suitable for blood pool and hepatic imaging. Significant Accomplishments•Led research that produced two issued US patents covering novel syntheses of glyphosate, the world's largest selling herbicide.•Directed and personally performed research leading to the improved production of glyphosate and it's intermediates. Four processes were developed that were implemented at various operating facilities at various locations across the world.•Developed a general, computer controlled laboratory automation system that enabled the continuous feed of up to twelve reagent streams over any number of reactor vessels. This eliminated the need for expensive, large scale pilot plant testing of the alachlor production process.•Developed a LIMS system that collected and processed data from any number of HP-3392 recording integrators.•Directed all analytical research conducted in support of the Muscatine, Iowa alachlor production facility.•Research coordinator for the startup of the Fayetteville, NC facility and for technology transfer to Antwerp, Belgium production facility.
