I'm an attending emergency medicine physician at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA, where I have been principal investigator for emergency department based substance use disorder trials, and work on special projects to serve patients struggling with addiction and insecure housing. I also serve on the hospital's credentials and ethics committees. Most of my professional time is devoted to clinical emergency medicine, with protected time for efforts to establish viable treatment or harm reduction techniques for substance users, and to improve sheltering options for homeless individuals with medical needs in Everett and Snohomish County. Along these lines, I currently lead efforts to provide medical care to clients in the Snohomish County Diversion Center. Most recently, I obtained municipal support to build a street medicine service that brings medication for opioid use disorder and treatment for mental illness to people who are unhoused. I am also building an urgent care-styled approach that is part of an all-around response to care offered through a health engagement hub in Snohomish County. I also provide advice and instruction for implementing programs that improve emergency care for individuals with substance use disorder. Interested?
