County Supervisor, District 20
CurrentElected in 2006, and re-elected in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 I advocate for the concerns and issues facing the citizens of the City of Brookfield and City of New Berlin (prior to redistricting in 2012, my district also included the Village of Elm Grove). My overarching goals are to represent the interests of my district's residents, while constantly striving to improve the operations and efficiency of Waukesha County government.My service on the County Board has provided me opportunities to influence the workings of county government, all with an eye toward fiscal conservatism and maximum effectiveness:* Controlling spending through budget oversight and review* Ensuring a quality workforce at a reasonable cost by setting parameters for negotiations on wages and benefits for approximately 1,500 employees* Managing the size of the workforce by creating and abolishing positions as needed* Evaluating the effectiveness of county programs by measuring short- and long-term goals* Evaluating the policies and procedures of departments to ensure maximum taxpayer ROI* Passing ordinances and resolutions that reflect input from citizens and protect their rights* Overseeing intergovernmental relations, watching for opportunities to eliminate duplication and waste between different layers of government* Making recommendations on appointments, to put the best talent in the right seats* Reviewing new state and federal grant applications prior to submission, offering recommendations for use of funds and related prioritiesI serve on the Land Use and Public Works committees. My past committee assignments included the Executive Committee, Public Works, Health & Human Services and chairmanship of the Personnel Committee. I was also appointed to the Waukesha County Economic Development Advisory Committee.
