About Thomas Shanks
I specialize in testing the software and hardware that makes today's cloud-centric world a reality. In my most recent role at Clumio, I ensured that our revolutionary SaaS data protection platform had the speed, scalability, and reliability needed to make physical backup appliances a thing of the past. When I first arrived in the Valley, I cut my teeth creating tools for bring-up and production-line testing of datacenter ethernet switches at Arista Networks. Subsequently, at Avi Networks, I automated testing of their software load balancing platform for customer-facing and inter-microservice roles on Apache Mesos, AWS, VMware vSphere, and other environments. Next, at Rubrik, I worked on the creation of virtualized and cloud-based simulated customer environments for automated testing of their physical and virtual data protection products. In between, I placed first and won a car in the Mercedez Benz Hackathon with a beautiful and easy-to-use Bitcoin-based in-car payment platform. Before moving to the Valley, I studied computer architecture, networking, and security as a graduate student at Georgia Tech, receiving a masters in Computer Science in 2013. I studied both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as an undergraduate, receiving degrees in both with High Honors. In addition to my diverse project and research experience, I also served as the Chief Engineer of WREK Atlanta, Georgia Tech's student-owned and operated full-power FM radio station, where I led a team of undergrads in a major overhaul of the transmission system to allow for 100 kilowatt operation, covering all of North Georgia with the kind of diverse and wonderful programming that only a college radio station can offer.I also have an extra class amateur radio license; my callsign is W4TCP. For those into ham radio, I enjoy PSK31 QRP from public parks and green spaces.
Listed skills include Radio Broadcasting, Python, Audio Engineering, Hd Video, and 46 others.
