Working across IT, marketing, and product management departments, I spent years refining the organization’s corporate web site; first simply to showcase the immense and constantly-changing product offering of a global leader in the imaging industry, and then later converting that site it in to a full-fledged commerce site that would go on to account for millions of dollars in sales over my time at the company. The site operated on a back-end CMS app that I built from the ground-up to meet the complex needs of the organization, and leveraged APIs to communicate sales data to and from our legacy ERP system. In addition to my work with the customer facing website, I also developed and maintained several internal web applications designed to streamline time tracking and process tracking systems within just about every department of the organization. For about two years of my time there, my role also included the management of a junior PHP developer.My everyday tasks at Mitsubishi Chemical were mostly in the LAMP stack; writing object-oriented PHP (vanilla), SQL database design and administration for both M-SQL and MySQL/Maria databases, writing valid HTML5 & CSS3, writing Javascript/jQuery, maintaining both Apache and nginx web servers, doing Linux admin on the command line, memcached, consuming APIs as well as constructing them, using Git for all my version controlling and PHPUnit for unit testing. This role also included some light VueJS and NoSQL experimentation.

Co-founder and lead developer of a social network designed to connect eco-minded businesses and individuals with one another. The site (now defunct) launched in 2010 and offered users a Facebook-like social network experience, but one designed specifically to help unite those passionate about the then-burgeoning "green" movement. Upon registration, each user would be asked to subscribe to "green interest" tags to narrow down their fields of interest and the experience would adapt to their input by suggesting they join pertinent groups, partner with other users interested in those sections of the community, or attend events near them.The construction was lead by myself from day-one, and created in an AWS LAMP environment using Amazon's EC2, RDS, S3, and SES technologies. To build Ozoshare, I managed the roles of a small a team of contracted coders and designers for some large feature pushes, but mostly wrote both the front- and back-end code myself, as we were operating totally independently.Vanilla PHP acted as our back-end environment, which outputted HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery for our front-end views.This project required I expose myself to new techniques and methods of MySQL optimization, maintaining MySQL read-replica servers at a reasonable utilization level, and designing a load balancing scheme to keep everything happy. Maintaining and building new features for Ozoshare was my "five-to-nine" passion project for 5 years. Before Ozoshare shuttered in 2015, I had spent a few months managing a team comprised of an iOS developer and another PHP developer to help me build our mobile experience, and the RESTful API that it would eventually use.

With eCycle Ink, I inherited a legacy e-commerce site, running in a LAMP environment, playing nice with Yahoo! Merchant Solutions. While there was a product management application written, the needs of the organization had changed so much that it was in dire need of attention: Item compatibility was duplicated over and over throughout the database rather than using relational tables, and there was no automated system in place for updating the item details on the Yahoo! Merchant Solution side with the data saved in the product management application. This was being done by hand, with several CSV files, by several different employees. I added much more flexibility to their product management application, with tables of product compatibility information, rather than large plain-text lists inside of database fields. This not only shrunk the database considerably, but also made adding new product compatibility and editing existing product compatibility a snap, and increased the effectiveness of the site's product search function.Additionally, I organized the process for updating the Yahoo! Merchant Solutions items table by writing a CSV file generator that exported the database contents in to files that met precisely the picky specifications required at the time by the Yahoo! Merchant Solutions system.
