I wrote MATLAB code to model chromatic adaptation, which is the human visual system's ability to adjust to changes in illumination (for example from incandescent lighting to natural lighting) such that colors appear the same in both illuminations. Specifically, I worked on models that were variations of the widely accepted von Kries adaptation, testing out various mathematical functions and using MATLAB's built-in optimization toolbox, fitting data from a recent experiment.

• Team member in developing a greenhouse gas inventory of the university due to transportation use, which involved surveying students, staff, and faculty on their transportation habits and contacting organizations and departments on campus about their transportation usage• Partnered with another Ambassador to calculate, through surveying, a more accurate metric of student, staff, and faculty transportation usage, which contributed to the greenhouse gas inventory• Wrote and edited student and staff guides to sustainable transportation on the university website as a member of a team of writers
