After retiring from the NYPD as a detective, I became a consultant and have been featured on numerous local NYC , and national media entities such as CNN, Fox News,, BBC (& others) tv/radio discussing various law enforcement related issues. You can currently see me in episodes of #CrimesGoneViral on the Investigation Discovery Channel. I have conducted various trainings and public speaking events around the NYC area and nationally with Blue Courage where I have co-facilitated police trainings on diversity and leadership. I have dabbled in real estate sales in the Long Island area as well as performed duties as an interim Executive Director of the Westbury Business Improvement District. My most current work has been serving as a Director of Safety & Security, most recently for the Kew-Forest School in Forest Hills, New York.Working as a detective in the NYPD allowed me to make real, tangible, positive changes in peoples lives. In my law enforcement career I obtained a wealth of skills and experience working as a patrol officer (with some undercover work) and a Community Policing Officer, a police academy instructor, supervising and teaching recruit officers and in-service officers and my last assignment was as the citywide liaison to the LGBT Community in New York City for the Chief of Community Affairs. In that role I helped report and aid investigations around bias related hate crimes including assault, robbery, and murder. In that role I had a broad range of training, media / public relations, crime prevention training, curriculum modification and presented many trainings for the department and community. As an expanded role I was also certified and performed functions as a Citywide Crime Prevention Specialist.Post NYPD "retirement" has allowed me to broaden my consulting to media, real estate, and non-profit work as well as school security. I'm the most un-retired "retired" person you may meet and am always seeking new, challenging work.I am always open to new possibilities, working on some new projects and working on a book in the new year.

The Westbury Business Improvement District provides marketing support and other improvements to the business community within the Village of Westbury. This mission is done through a renewed effort of promotion and other support to local businesses, via a much stronger interactive website, and social media package launched in September 2017. The BID also works collaboratively with the Village of Westbury, The Chamber of Commerce of Westbury - Carle Place, the Westbury Arts Council among other local organizations to assist in the continuing revitalization of the downtown Village of Westbury area. Nypd Detective (Now Retired)Nypd Jul 2003 - Dec 2013New York, Ny, UsI was assigned to the office of the Chief of Community Affairs Bureau for the latter part of my NYPD career. While I was part of a citywide, critical incident response team, the training unit, and certified Crime Prevention Officer, my primary role was as the Citywide LGBTQ Liaison. I conducted LGBT related trainings to officers, as well as various presentations and trainings to members of the LGBT community and other organizations. I initiated investigations of various crimes (many hate-crime related) against persons within the LGBTQ community and also conducted follow-ups with victims of LGBT related crime (bias incidents etc..). The goal was to improve the overall relationship between the LGBTQ / HIV community and the NYPD to ensure people were receiving proper police service and the police department was aware of crime trends affecting those people in the LGBTQ / HIV communities. As a community affairs detective I have created positive public relations by establishing working partnerships with various communities in NYC with a focused outreach and assistance towards the LGBTQ Community, with a concentrated outreach towards the Transgender and LGBTQ youth communities. The ideal goal with LGBTQ young people is to try to help keep them on a positive and productive path and away from the negative influences of gangs, crime, and destructive behaviors such as bullying, drug and alcohol use and abuse and suicide.In the Crime Prevention side of things I was tasked with delivering presentations to community and business members on a variety of Crime Prevention topics. I also conducted business level Crime Prevention Security Surveys to better fortify the security needs of those businesses. -

My recruit companies we always top 5 in their academics and many have excelled in becoming supervisors within the NYPD in the years following their graduation. While my main field of instruction was Behavioral Science, I also taught a wide variety of police related subjects while assigned to the academy and also while assigned to Community Affairs afterwards. Behavioral Science incorporates the other academic subjects of Law and Police Science as well as tactics and combines it with Psychology and Sociology skills to round out the legal, and procedural methods in concert with the human aspects to the many challenges police officers will face out in the field.
