Thomas is a research scientist with a civil engineering background and +8 years of experience within structural analysis of offshore and floating structures. He has spent most of his career investigating the structural response of very long floating bridges subjected to wave and current loads, related to the E39 Coastal Highway Route project in Norway. Recently he has added offshore and floating wind projects to his portfolio.His experience covers physical, small-scale model tests in Ocean Basin facilities, non-linear global analysis in SIMA (a non-linear aero-hydro-elastic finite element program allowing for large displacements, generally used for offshore slender structures), calibration of numerical models, hydrodynamic loads, regular/stochastic processes and timeseries analysis.Worked on commercial and research projects, where he helps verify and expand new features in SIMA. Has previously performed novel model tests in the Ocean Basin at SINTEF Ocean, related to the Bjørnafjord floating pontoon bridge concepts, where he was a key member in the design and quality assurance.As supplement to his role at SINTEF Ocean, he has also taking on responsibilities related to academics, where he has taught matrix statics to BSc students at OsloMET, been external sensor for a MSc Thesis and a Python introduction course at OsloMET and co-supervised a MSc Thesis at NTNU. During his MSc study at Aalborg University he also worked on exhibitions related to wave energy, volunteered on a construction project in Uganda, taught fellow students the basic use of Matlab and served as Chairman of the Aalborg Local Chapter at Engineers Without Borders Denmark.
