At ACRA I was the lead hardware and software designer for a helicopter usage monitoring device prototype. I designed and implemented highly reliable C firmware modules compliant to the strict MISRA C rules for flight test data recorder products including FAT32, SNMP, TCP and FTP server/client.I introduced a new cross platform development methodology to implement and test firmware before the hardware manufacturing, running on Windows using a device independent hardware access layer implementation. To enhance product quality, I created unit tests for the software modules.I brought up new PCBs, developed test plans and self test firmware for the new boards. I created and used special test FPGA implementation and JTAG boundary scan tools for the testing.I reviewed new schematics and wrote notes about the required changes.I reviewed PCB manufacturing processes to improve prototypes’ yields.I selected and sourced new hardware components which fulfilled the special requirements for flight test instrumentation devices.I looked up related military (MIL and DO) standards to determine the requirements of the equipment in the cockpit (font set, buttons and switches, night vision compatibility and mechanical requirements).

I managed an interdisciplinary product development team including PCB & FPGA designers, mechanical designers and software engineers.Our team successfully developed products like custom Pentium-M motherboard, hand-held speed measurement device, high sensitivity far infrared camera and various licence plate recognition systems.As a team leader I completed software integration tasks to integrate the company’s products into customers’ systems. To accomplish this, we used various third party libraries and tools like IBM MQ, Sybase SQL, Microsoft SQL clients and customer specific TCP protocols.I reviewed the company’s tool chains and introduced new tools for the PCB design flow and mechanical design.I represented the company in international trade shows and conferences and managed state financed research projects.

As a chief software engineer I designed and implemented 24/7 Windows applications for security systems (entry control systems, surveillance systems and fire prevention systems for commercial and industrial properties, factories).It was my responsibility to fix and customize the Windows CE BSP of Hexium’s infrared camera.I implemented BIOS customization for our embedded Pentium-M motherboard.I created BSP libraries for our Trimedia/Nexperia based frame grabber cards.Part of my role was to implement image processing algorithms running on these DSP cards.For a custom development project I created a real-time image processing application for a quality control system in a pharmaceutical company.I implemented DOS/Windows/Linux drivers for the I/O and frame grabber cards manufactured by Hexium.I designed and implemented firmware running on an 8051 family microcontroller as an offline access control system.I created FPGA implementations for ISA/PCI bus boards and microcontroller-based access control system modules.
