About Workman Thomas

My work for the past fifteen years has been in the area of ecological and cultural health and health policy. I am especially interested in way to connect the consumer health culture to existing policy, research, and practice in healthcare so that both are improved as a result -- So that patients and family play an active, informed role in improving their own healthcare and the entire system, and health care professionals create systems that assist in this goal. I work for a day when medical consumerism is replaced with health is a civic responsibility for all to share. In my work, I utilize the tools of human communication, including deliberation, collaboration, dialogue, and negotiation to create collaborative messages, materials, and policies.Prior to working with healthcare policy and research, my work has been in the area of reducing high-risk drinking among college students.community consensus around environmental change to support health initiatives. Iexamine and create tools around policy development and implementation, health promotion, public deliberation, and aspects of popular culture and cultural change.
