I joined Ironwood to build and empower a team responsible for the tech transfer, scale-up, validation and manufacture of a new product, Linzess (linaclotide) capsules . This position involves working with many contract manufacturers, commercial partners and other stakeholders.Linzess was approved in August of 2012 by the FDA and November 2012 by EMA.LINZESS is a guanylate cyclase-C agonist indicated in adults for treatment of Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and Chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC).Ironwood Pharmaceuticals aims to create differentiated, first-in-class medicines that provide relief and clear therapeutic benefits to patients suffering from chronic diseases. Manage the manufacturing and distribution network for MEPACT, INTEGRILIN and VELCADE. INTEGRILIN® is an antithrombotic agent that reversibly inhibits platelet aggregation by preventing binding of fibrinogen to the GP IIb-IIIa receptor. INTEGRILIN® helps prevent occlusion of the coronary arteries, thus reducing the incidence of ischemic events.VELCADE® (bortezomib) for Injection is indicated for the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma or mantle cell lymphoma who have received at least 1 prior therapy.MEPACT is indicated in children, adolescents and young adults for the treatment of high‑grade resectable non‑metastatic osteosarcoma after macroscopically complete surgical resection. It is used in combination with post‑operative multi-agent chemotherapy.

Following a successful launch of Angiomax I was asked to join Cubist to launch their first commercial product. The product, Cubicin, is a novel antibiotic for the treatment of meth-resistant staph. infectionsUpon joining Cubist I completed the drug product validation and put their commercial distribution network together. Cubicin was approved by the FDA and launched in 2003.

At TMC I managed the manufacturing of bivalirudin from validation through launch. TMC is a virtual manufacturing company with 100% of their manufacturing outsourced to contract manufacturing organizations.Bivalirudin known as Angiomax, a synthetic peptide used as an anticoagulant during angioplasty, was approved by the FDA in 2000.

Upon obtaining my MBA I went to work at ImmuLogic with the goal of managing their laboratory facilities and assisting in the construction of new administrative and laboratory space. After completing the build out of a small GMP facility designed to produce API's for 3 late stage drug candidates I was asked to take on the new role of managing this new facility and the personnel within it. This job also involved outsourcing of the drug product, packaging and labeling for these products.

I worked for a subsidiary of BTI by the name of Biotechnica Diagnostics that later became employee owned under the name of OmniGene, Inc. My work at OmniGene involved managing a DNA probe laboratory that tested for difficult to grow anaerobic bacteria that are often associated with dental disease.
