Makes authorized modifications/field changes to systems. Trains subordinate or less qualified personnel in the proper procedures for maintaining precision approach and surveillance radar systems. Survey, site, and install air traffic control precision approach and surveillance radar systems. Make periodic inspections and performs preventive maintenance and records the accomplishment per appropriate Navy publications. Load operational software, test, tune, adjust, and align systems for proper operation. Utilize various test measure and diagnostic equipment in the servicing, repair, and calibration of air traffic control equipment. Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, product specifications, and technical manuals for equipment maintenance. Diagnose and isolate equipment malfunctions to the fault, remove and replace the faulted component (soldering),, and verify the malfunction has been corrected. Observe and apply proper safety procedures with respect to system operations and maintenance. Assembles and disassembles systems, preparing them either for operation or shipment, as applicable. Maintain diagnostic and operational tapes, tools, support, and test equipment. Maintain necessary records of maintenance and compile data for reports. Manages maintenance data systems for equipment, repair parts, tools, publication, modifications, and records. Participate in and provide technical assistance during system flight inspections. Assist in maintaining accountability of all parts of the system including software, spare parts, and in requisitioning supplies and spare parts.
