Greetings, I'm Thomiah (tom-me-ya)!After graduating as valedictorian of Heritage High School in Newport News, Virginia, I attended Spelman College, where I was active in the honors program and several organizations. I majored in Political Science and minored in Secondary Education, knowing at the time that I wanted to address the inequity within the education system. After graduating from Spelman in 2017 and earning the distinction of summa cum laude, I taught various learners (gifted, accelerated, ESL, etc.) for two years as a Social Studies teacher in the Dekalb County School District. My experiences as a teacher fueled my desire to pursue a law degree to push for more systemic change. While at Harvard Law School, I subcited on the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties law journal and worked as a student attorney for the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic. I was active in the Harvard Black Law Students Association (HBLSA) and co-chaired the committee focused on promoting racial justice in the admissions process. I was also the 2021-2022 Combined Northern New England Sub-Regional Director of the Northeastern Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA).
