As Assistant Lake Village Director, I directed a village of more than 50 counselors for the entire summer season, as well as 250+ new campers each week, at a YMCA outdoor summer camp. I facilitated the scheduling of a week's worth of activities for each of the 28 cabins on a weekly basis. I planned, supervised, and executed village-wide games weekly. Most importantly, in my opinion, I empowered counselors to create growth experiences for each of their ten campers in an open, welcoming, and comfortable environment.

As a summer resident counselor at Camp Tecumseh YMCA, I was a mentor, guide, leader, teammate, and friend. As a counselor, I was assigned a cabin with two other university-aged counselors. Each cabin each week was gifted with ten kids that we got to mentor, counsel, and just have fun with. The counselors' mantra was "Love Those Kids." At the same time we were tasked with "Being Third," putting God first, others second, and ourselves third. This position gained me experience in leadership, patience, problem solving, lifeguarding, first-aid, high ropes, networking, learning how to connect with people my age and children, and learning how to love without bounds. Without this position, I would not be the man I am today.
