Thora has been tinkering all her life so she was well prepared to take on the role as the Director of Fab Lab Reykjavík. Her educational background is in psychology focused on creativity, learning and cognitive science. With a special interest in rapid prototyping to understand creative ideas, she has applied her knowledge to develop a bulk of educational materials for innovation education. Her projects centre on getting young people to „create the change“ they want to see in the world. She is the co-fonder and creator of MEMA an innovation accelerator for college students.

Research and development of materials for innovation education. In this short timeframe the wide range of Innoent Education product line was developed, teachers were trained and the materials were tested. The product line is packed full of boardgames, apps, knowledge and a mentors toolbox. The product line was then tested in schools in Iceland, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. Through testing there is qualitative evidence that suggests that the product line sparks creativity, inspires kids to act on their ideas by making prototypes and helps children understand how products can affect the environment. The materials are best suited for inventors from the age of 9 to the age of 16.
