About Thor-Bjørn Ottosen

I am MSc. in physics and technological and socio-economic planning with a master thesis on industrial air pollution and a Ph.D. in modeling of air pollution from traffic.In my job at the Danish Technological Institute, I help companies within clean air technology to develop better and more valuable products and services. I advise on air quality, analyze and model data and help my customers and business partners understand data. At the same time, I am project manager on both Danish and international projects.My core competencies are low-cost sensors, data analysis, modelling, technology development, remote sensing, GIS, aerobiology, bioaerosols and green infrastructure. I am also a strong communicator, as part of my work involves gathering consortia, writing funded applications and communicating our projects and results on the web and social media.My academic focus is atmospheric gases and particles that have a negative impact on people and the environment, including health-related air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, bioaerosols, etc.Since air quality is the environmental health problem that causes the most premature deaths each year in most of the Western world, it is important for society to contribute to a better understanding and solutions to this problem. We support this at the Technological Institute.
