Contributing Editor, Co-Owner
CurrentRemoten is an ad-free online magazine focusing on film and TV.I founded the site with Kristian Hansen & Anders Morgenstierne early '14.We've grown since. What began as a commercial-free alternative, has grown bigger than we thoughr it would be. Just this last month (Apr-May '15), we served articles and reviews to 1300 readers, many of which return. Since we integrated GAnalytics, we've crossed the 8000 visitor barrier (counting since aug. 14) by far. My tasks on the project are primarily: - Building & developing the site's design and layout- Writing news, reviews and other journalistic articles for web.- Proof-reading other contributors' work & brushing the site design with custom CSS, GFonts, lots of custom GFX (Beyond the childtheme, it's the little bits you probably won't notice when visiting)- Coordinating and managing the project online (via Trello and Facebook)- Self-hosted WP-setup: Picking out colours and themes, customizing them, and some programming & editing html, php, css and optimizing SQL, minifying, as well as more logos, profiles and optimizing the site speed & server load by at least 35%, using WPMU DEV Premium plugins.- Developing the site's content and direction w/ my friend & colleague Kristian Hansen.- Complete Twitter overhaul, design-wise.- Google Analytics & benchmarking analyst. I also did some SEO, but nothing too fancy.I wear many hats at Remoten.dk. It may seem frustrating to some, but for me, it's an outright pleasure to talk, write or even just comment on Hollywoods latests mind-benders - and sometimes, the freedom that comes with 'having your own thing' is worth all the money, you could've saved up at McDonalds', instead of working 'freelance', or off the clock, if you will. (No offence, McD is king, now and then) - that's the great thing about starting from scratch.
