Interviewed over a dozen prize organisations, including XPRIZE, the Nobel Prize, and the World Economic Forum. Successfully created a prize proposal which is currently being implemented.

Role: As the research communication and community engagement officer, my role has two main aspects. I am responsible for the communication of our research and research funding, writing most research-related content and speaking on behalf of the organisation. In the other aspect of my role, I am responsible for bringing together and training cancer survivors and carers to assist us in our research funding decisions.Summary: Cancer Council NSW is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in Australia. The research strategy unit is responsible for the allocation, communication, and monitoring of the $5 million in research funding awarded every year. Duties: * Project manager for the annual Research Report (a physical and online publication highlighting the best of research for the year).* To project manage and deliver an annual 2-day training course for survivors and carers in how to assess research grants. * Write summaries of research discoveries and funded grants, integral to fundraising efforts and community building.* Maintain the internal research communication strategy.Highlights:* Creating a new research communication strategy, building internal tools for research communication, and thus helping to raise the value of media coverage of research to $5 million in 2013/14.* Creating a web-based tool to communicate the survival odds at various stages from multiple types of cancer.* Converted the research activity report into a document used by the entire organisation, with several innovations in online and physical delivery that were subsequently used in the creation of the annual report.

Role:As a part-time contractor, working remotely from Australia, I assisted a small team of entrepreneurs and health workers in Singapore with research, marketing, and design.Organisation:ACCESS Health International is dedicated to better access to healthcare globally, with a focus on India and Southeast Asia. Specifically, they work to identify best-practice models of healthcare in developing nations that could be spread widely to other similar countries.Duties:I wrote grant proposals, created marketing materials, and assisted with design. I also helped with the design, setup, and maintenance of several websites including the core ACCESS site. I worked to build several pitch decks and helped with the presentation of ACCESS work worldwide.

Role:General technical and non-technical writing and data analysis, part time.Organisation:CarbonBlack was a small web startup based around online car services.Highlights:* Managed a small team of overseas contractors in a data scraping and analysis exercise.* Dramatically improving my skills in Excel, copywriting, and time management.
