About Thor Simonsen

Thor Simonsen is a Danish-Canadian artist, consultant, and investor. A modern-day Renaissance man, Thor’s diverse experiences have equipped him with powerful skills in art, design, technology, media, public relations, intercultural communication, emotional intelligence, social dynamics, networking, research analysis, strategic development, fundraising, investing, and project management.Born in the Faroe Islands and raised in the Canadian Arctic, Thor's unique upbringing has shaped his global perspective. After graduating from high school in Iqaluit, he returned to Scandinavia to work in the music industry and earned a bachelor's degree in Design from the Danish School of Media & Journalism in Copenhagen.A prolific artist and music producer, Thor has released two solo albums, produced over 10 albums for other artists, and served as a songwriter, co-producer, and executive producer on numerous additional projects. In 2016, he co-founded Hitmakerz Worldwide, a Nunavut-based record label and social enterprise dedicated to fostering sustainable careers in the arts, particularly for Inuit and Indigenous artists. In 2022, he also founded Nunavut Music, the territory’s music association.Thor's passions extend far beyond music. He’s an avid reader, philosopher, author, and lifelong seeker of truth. Fluent in multiple languages, he is also an experienced designer, art director, photographer, film producer, language trainer, performance coach, fitness model, real estate investor, and board director for various organizations.Thor's business and artistic endeavors have earned him numerous accolades, including recognition from GRAMMY® Awards, JUNO® Awards, Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, Capital Music Awards, Planet Awards, and Indigenous Music Awards.
