Doug Edwards is Founder of ES3™ & Zone·tv™. As Chairman & CEO of ES3, Edwards is responsible for the company’s executive leadership, product vision and strategy – supporting an elite team and backed by a world-class board of directors.Over the span of his 28+ year career, Edwards has led ES3 for 22 years using a mindset of product-driven innovation and excellence. Under Doug’s leadership, ES3 has become the leading interactive TV company in North America and evolved its product offerings to address new opportunities in the experiential advertising market for media and brands on the biggest screen in the room. ES3 distributes its products to more than 40M traditional TV households and all major connected TV platforms – working with companies and brands such as AT&T/DIRECTV, Comcast, Bell, Rogers, Intel, Microsoft, Warner Bros Discovery, HBO, MGM+ and many more…Doug brought forward an early concept of Free Ad-supported Streaming TV before it was called FAST, with a unique approach to personalized channels. He took this concept from ideation to reality – incubating a new company under the ES3 umbrella (called Zone·tv) and hired Jeff Weber as CEO to partner in building the business. After assembling the best of the best in the industry and building a premium product that rivals the major subscription streamers, he successfully sold Zone·tv to Block Communications Inc. in January 2024. Edwards continues to lead the charge as President of the newly-owned BCI business unit.Edwards’ educational background in computer programming from Centennial College, as well as his continued executive education at MIT Sloan School of Business, has provided the fundamental build blocks in which he used to build ES3 and Zone·tv. Edwards has been awarded patents in both Canada and the US related to computing and television innovations. Doug was also awarded a local business award from the Mayor of the City of Pickering as Entrepreneur of the Year.Prior to launching ES3 and Zone·tv, Edwards held executive positions with innovative companies including Hip Interactive, OperEx and founded Spun Web Designs during the DotCom boom.His past service in the Canadian Armed Forces Regiment, Queen’s York Rangers, provides him with an incredible edge in leadership training and helped him develop raw perseverance. Doug’s love of animals and commitment to animal welfare saw him commit over 11 years in a philanthropic leadership capacity, serving as the President and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Durham Region in Ontario, Canada.
