    Perth, Australia
Led a 10 man strong client team located on the offshore installation vessel during the successful installation of the 23,000t jacket and float-over of the 24,000t topsides. Implemented the Woodside behavior based safety system Our Safety Culture and supported the Heerema Incident and Injury Free system. HSE performance was consistent with similar offshore construction campaigns. The installation of the jacket was conducted with Heerema’s semi submersible crane vessel Hermod. The installation included lifting and down-ending of two 800t floatation tanks, hammering in 16 x 700t primary piles and installing 16 drilled and grouted 400t insert piles. The topsides float-over installation was the heaviest deck ever installed with this method in a persistent swell environment. The installation operation was conducted without damaging any of the existing facilities at the adjacent NRA facility, using up to 7 vessels in the 500m Zone at a time. A key part of the role was liaison with the NRA OIM with respect to permit to work and SIMOPS. The installation team delivered as-designed foundation strength, within budget.
  • Woodside Energy
Deputy Transport And Installation Mgr, Nrb
    Woodside Energy Apr 2009 - Aug 2011
    Perth, Australia
Led the commercial management of the two contracts with Heerema for the transport and installation of the North Rankin B jacket and topsides (contract value approx. A$500Mln). Stood in for the T&I Delivery manager for approximately 25% of the time, leading a client team of up to 20 people. The T&I team actively managed contractor delivery and resolution of interfaces with fabrication sites on Batam Island and in Ulsan and with the associated engineering teams. The NRB project was a $5Bln mega project and each delivery manager effectively leads a full project scope within the delivery stream; cost and execution schedule monitoring, change management, contract management, client team management, interface management, assurance and verification of internal and contractor deliverables, stake holder management, risk and opportunity portfolio etc.Key challenges included negotiation of significant variations, including the addition of a second bridge for the facility, extending the scope of the installation command vessel to also cover accommodation for the HUC phase and variations to strengthen the jacket transport barge and to allow the topsides deck to exceed the contracted Not to Exceed weight and center of gravity envelope. The transport and installation scope was delivered within budget.Took on the role as delivery manager for the change management process associated with the addition of the 2nd bridge, to mature the execution plan for design, fabrication, transport and installation of the bridge such that it was delivered in time and without impacting the delivery of the overall project.Acted as mentor for junior staff in the team.
  • Woodside Energy (Uk) Ltd
    Engineering Manager, Nrb Substructure
Woodside Energy (Uk) Ltd Jan 2008 - Mar 2009
    London, United Kingdom
Led a small client team located in the offices of engineering contractor KBR in Leatherhead, UK. Design of the 23,000t jacket was challenging due to the onerous 1 in 10,000 design criteria, 28m air gap and uncertain foundation conditions. The chosen installation method for the topsides (float-over) meant that more than 1/3 of the jacket weight was cantilevered outboard of the launch rails. Successfully delivered fabrication drawings on time to support the early-start strategy for the jacket fabrication in Batam.
