I worked with/on the balena platform managing fleets of IoT devices, making significant contributions to the development of Etcher Pro, an advanced tool for mass image writing on IoT devices (such as Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, and others) and storage devices. My responsibilities and skills included:- IoT Fleet Management: Designing and implementing solutions for centralized management of IoT device fleets, enabling real-time updates, monitoring, and maintenance on a large scale.- Remote Support: Providing remote support for IoT devices in the field, ensuring reliable and secure access for issue resolution and operations management.- Container Management: Managing containers using Docker for efficient isolation and execution of applications on IoT devices.- Linux Management: Managing Linux operating systems used in IoT devices, using Docker for application development and deployment, including updates.- Development of balenaEtcher/Etcher Pro and associated systems (Electron.JS on IoT devices, BlockDevice management on multi-platforms).- Development of a Shopify e-commerce for buying both the Etcher Pro and the balenaFin board and accessoriesThese experiences allowed me to face the unique challenges of managing fleets of IoT devices in real-world and sometimes sensitive environments (such as gas pipelines, medical devices, digital signage, etc.), as well as contribute to the success and effectiveness of an advanced solution for image management on storage devices at a large scale.

I worked in a DevOps team to reduce the friction of the other internal teams with new work tools through which we would:- Increase productivity- Make the product more uniform (whichever the product was)- Ensure and maintain quality control of the code (where applicable)The tools I used were mainly AWS technologies managed through Serverless such as Lambda (which I loved the concept of), Elasticsearch, Athena, EC2, S3, Aurora, Greengrass (just a few experiments), MQ and in some cases ElectronJS with TypeScript, React, GraphQL and the occasional NodeJS module for integration with outdated systems (e.g. reading of legacy Excel / CSV files) as well as integration with various APIs (e.g. Facebook) during standard promotion periods (Black Friday, fashion week, etc.)

During my internship, I learnt the basis of the following programming languages:MySQL, PHP, HTML (+HTML5), CSS (+CSS3), JavaScript, NodeJS, AngularJS, Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, jQuery all of which were used to develop and maintain modules for communities on a CMS on top of Joomla.My activities included:• Daily database administration• Daily Linux Server management (production and staging environments)• Studying of new (at that time) technologies such as Redis, MongoDB, AngularJS, NodeJS to produce new modules in an innovative way (real-time chat with Node and Angular, real-time traffic data with Redis and MongoDB)• Debug and restructuring of resource-hungry report queries in MySQL, consequently making every process asynchronous and restructuring queries in order to avoid table locking• Writing both the architecture of frontend modules and their code with PHP/jQuery/Bootstrap, as well as some prototypal Joomla modules with NodeJS/AngularJS

During my collaboration with Car2go Italia (Daimler AG), car sharing agency, my main duties were:• Follow the development of Milan section of the website• Follow the development of the italian section of car2go application (iOS/Android)• Organize, manage and maintain a sensible-data back-up system• Create and update a map of all the parking spots (public and private) and the gas stations• Publicize car2go service at festivals/events• Organize a list of suppliers and keep the office supplied with pens, paper, etc.• Follow the shipment of replacement parts for car2go vehicles• Generally maintain the software (updates, installation, network errors, etc.) and hardware (broken/malfunctioning cables, network, netbooks, LCDs, etc.)

During my internship in Europelowcost, search engine and comparator for low cost flights, my main duties were: • Manage Facebook and Twitter accounts to expand social connections• Follow the development of the Europelowcost app for iPhone (with an external partner)• Optimize the SEO to amend site positioning on Google SERP(s)• Test the usability of the site's interface• Prepare a monthly affiliation report for Tradedoubler and Zanox• Generally maintain the software (updates, installation, network errors, etc.) and hardware (broken/malfunctioning cables, network, netbooks, LCDs, etc.)
