Founded in 1992, Thursday Network (TN) is the Washington, DC chapter of the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) and the young professionals auxiliary of Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL). Thursday Network is comprised of over 100 young professionals committed to serving the Washington Metropolitan area through community programs and partnerships that address the National Urban League's Empowerment Goals of Housing, Health, Jobs and Education. The mission of Thursday Network is to provide a forum for young professionals ages 21 – 40, to assist the Greater Washington Urban League in achieving its goals and to focus their energies on community service and foster personal and professional development, social consciousness, political involvement, and economic empowerment.Thursday Network assists the Greater Washington Urban League in achieving its goal to providing direct services to those in need in Washington, DC, Montgomery County MD, and Prince Georges County MD.Annually, Thursday Network sponsors several events such as Young Black Give Back Month, the "I EMPOWER" Scholarship program, the Empowerment Academy mentorship program and participates in the NULYP National Day of Service and National Day of Empowerment. In addition to service programs, Thursday Network provides personal & professional development through workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities.Thursday Network is proud of its history as one of the most progressive service-oriented organizations in the metropolitan area.
