I am a Professor in Economics at Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, with over 20 years of teaching and research experience in the field of Economics. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with First Class honors from the University of Peradeniya, where I was awarded the University Prize for Academic Excellence for my outstanding performance. I also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Poverty from Erasmus University, the Netherlands, a Master of Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy from Kobe University of Japan, and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Peradeniya. I have undergone specialized training at esteemed institutions, including Oxford University in the United Kingdom, the Institute for Human Development (IHD) in India, South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) in Nepal and International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. My academic career includes serving as a lecturer in Economics at the University of Peradeniya and as a Research Officer at the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka. I currently serve as a Global Fellow at Habib University, Pakistan, and have had the privilege of being a visiting scholar at Meijo University in Japan and China Agricultural University in Beijing, China. With a diverse international background spanning more than 10 countries, I have contributed to the field through numerous publications, including journal articles, books, and book chapters, both nationally and internationally. My research interests span various aspects of development economics, i.e., Poverty and Poverty Alleviation, Inequality, Environmental Economics.
