As a Resident Adviser, I helped build a sustainable community by establishing a safe, nurturing and intellectually stimulating living environment in the residence halls. While I was responsible for educational and social events in residential spaces, a majority of my position was managing time efficiently to be both a full time student and available as the first point of contact for the personal, educational, and social needs of other students. Being in such a position, I employed a trained knowledge of dynamics of power and difference such as race, gender, ethnicity, class, nationalism, etc. I enforced College policy and was prepared to respond to emergency situations.
