Throughout my career I've been drawn to organizations looking to materially benefit of its customers or members, often by being game changers or rebels. For example, Dell changed the game in the 90's with its build-to-order model that delivered cutting-edge technology and fantastic service to customers while saving them a boatload of money. REI was founded as a cooperative to directly import ice axes from Europe because mountaineers here in the northwest had a difficult time getting good quality gear at a fair price. Redfin's mission to reinvent real estate is challenging the way that homes have always been bought and sold by truly being on the customers' side. The Mountaineers have been around for more than 110 years but continue to be an innovator in outdoor education and a fierce defender of wild places.The Mountaineers has been a global leader in outdoor education since 1906. Our mission is focused on enriching people's lives by connecting them with the wild lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The first American to climb Mt Everest was a Mountaineer. The first people to place a boot on Mt Olympus and a ski on Mt Rainier were Mountaineers. I'm thrilled to be at the helm of this amazing organization. Over my career I've developed functional specialty in ecommerce and marketing and am also a strong generalist. Over time I've developed as much strength managing P&Ls, developing employees and managing complex projects as I am developing marketing campaigns or optimizing website conversion. While I've managed teams as large as 600 and budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars, I thrive in entrepreneurial environments where executives must be hands-on and lead from the front. Growing healthy organizations, developing leaders, building high-performance teams and serving customers and members are my professional passions and where I've had the greatest impact.
