After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch with a degree in Economics as well as a Diploma in Education, I first completed my two years of compulsory military service before I took up a post as an Economics teacher at Outeniqua High School in George, Five years of teaching completed, I ventured off to tour the UK & Europe for a year with my wife before we settled in the Northern Cape to farm with export grapes, raisins and wine grapes. A move to Somerset West in 2003 followed for our now extended family of four (daughter and son) to manage 50 hectares of vineyards at Lourensford Wine Estate. I embarked on a journey to study MBA part-time at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 2004. From 2005 to 2009 was International Business Development Manager for Lourensford & Lanzerac Wines which allowed me to travel extensively to all markets where South African wines were in demand. Upon completion of my MBA degree at the end of 2008 I moved to Tokara as Head of Sales and Marketing for the wines and olive oils. A short stint as the Managing Director of a Stellenbosch Winery followed before I decided to follow my dream - consulting on marketing strategies with a focus on incorporating social media, a field where my love for photography and "short format new media" marketing videos could bear fruit. After consulting for Oldenburg Vineyards for a while, I was offered the position as International Sales Consultant and started on 1 November 2015. Since I joined Oldenburg Vineyards I have been traveling to international markets again, where I am tasked with building the international footprint of the wines produced on this world class wine estate. On the 1st of January 2018 I took up the position as International Sales Manager for Oldenburg Vineyards on a full-time basis.
