As the Chief Responsibility and Diversity Officer at MSCI, Tia Counts drives the firm's vision and strategy for sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion across its global operations. She also oversees the culture and engagement initiatives that drives the adoption of behaviours that support the cultural values and leadership competencies across the organization, impacting MSCI's approximately 6,000 employees. Tia joined MSCI in 2021 as its first Chief Diversity Officer and assumed her expanded role in 2022.In her current role, Tia Counts engages with various internal and external stakeholders to align MSCI's values and actions with its long-term sustainability goals and commitments. She is a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team, providing strategic guidance and insights on corporate responsibility and DE&I matters. She also leads the change management efforts to embed these principles into the firm's culture, policies, and practices. Tia leverages her strategic and critical thinking to navigate complex and sensitive issues, foster collaboration, and innovation and promote a culture of inclusion and accountability. She is a decisive and visionary leader who empowers her team and colleagues to achieve excellence and impact.Tia has a wealth of experience in leading and implementing innovative and impactful DE&I programs in the financial services industry. Prior to joining MSCI, she was the Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion for JP Morgan's Asset and Wealth Management business, where she launched several impactful initiatives to advance the representation and development of diverse talent. She also led Advancing Black Pathways for JP Morgan's Global Corporate and Investment Bank, as well as across all lines of business in EMEA, creating opportunities for black professionals and entrepreneurs through education, career development, and wealth creation.Tia began her career as a lawyer, specializing in cross-border transactions across Latin America, the US, and EMEA. She worked at leading law firms and investment banks before transitioning to front office roles, where she developed a keen understanding of the business needs and challenges of global financial markets.
