This curiosity naturally led me to the field of Health Science—how certain diseases develop physiologically, what molecular markers influence disease progression, and how we can prevent this progression through drug development. My hunger for knowledge pushed me toward a career in scientific research.My journey started with a degree in Medicinal Biotechnology, where I deepened my understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and chemistry. During my bachelor's, I was introduced to bioinformatics, and I was instantly captivated. The idea of working with large datasets to extract meaningful biological insights that could impact lives, along with the ability to create personalized solutions through programming, truly excites me. I find the process of organizing thoughts into algorithms, breaking down problems into modules, and solving them like puzzles incredibly satisfying.This fascination grew during my master's degree, where I took courses in biostatistics and bioinformatics while also learning R and Bash. My thesis focused on bioinformatics, analyzing transcriptomic data from mutated malaria parasites to study potential mechanisms of resistance to antimalarials.Following my master’s, I undertook an Erasmus traineeship at Stockholm University/Scilifelab, at Friedländer Lab, a group dedicated to computational and Omics data analysis to address fundamental questions in RNA biology. I worked on octopus transcriptomic data to uncover new antimicrobial peptides, further strengthening my bioinformatics expertise.However, this is only the beginning. My journey as a bioinformatician is just getting started, and I am eager to continue developing my skills. Fueled by my thirst for knowledge and my creative, inquisitive nature, I aim to contribute to advancing scientific understanding, unraveling mysteries that have persisted for millennia. I look forward to collaborating with leading institutions and professionals in the field to push the boundaries of what we know.
