Tiago Franco holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR), Brazil (2015-2019). During his undergraduate studies, he participated in a dual degree program with the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB) in Portugal, where he earned a Master’s degree in Information Systems in 2019. His work focused on predicting school dropout through the analysis of large educational datasets. After completing his Master’s, he joined the Center for Research in Digitization and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI), contributing to the Cognita project. Concluded in 2020, the project delivered a Big Data Analytics platform capable of monitoring and predicting students at risk of dropping out, as well as providing a set of educational metrics for the institution. The system has been in operation for more than three years, and he continues to actively contribute to its ongoing development and enhancement.In September 2020, he began his PhD at the Universidade do Minho, Portugal, with a scholarship funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). As part of his PhD, he joined the NanoStim project, which aimed to develop a set of solutions for enabling remote rehabilitation for elderly individuals. Currently, in the final year of his doctorate, he is focused on developing clinical decision support systems for electrical stimulation treatments. His main interests include Data Engineering, Systems Architecture, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Big Data Analytics.
