The role of a tour operator includes many different interconnected tasks, mostly aimed at guaranteeing incoming clients from the U.S. a smooth and pleasant stay. It commonly entails efficiently juggling many contacts and suppliers, which then translate to actions on the ground.My job was to coordinate the tour managers on assigments, the services and suppliers with whom we collaborate (hotels, airline companies, transport services, restaurants, local guides, assistants), and tackle any and all issues which may naturally arise in the context of logistics.Generally speaking, from a bird's-eye view I handled the pre-tour preparations, follow the group throughout their journey up until the close date, managaing all tour documents from the technical itinerary through to the final accounting.
