About Tiago De Souza Jensen
With my feet planted in the worlds of urban planning and wine, I am driven by the connections and places that make our cities so special.Having grown up in Vancouver, I completed my BA at UBC focusing on urban studies and critical theory. Concurrently with my BA, I completed my WSET Diploma and French Wine Scholar certifications, tying in my wine and planning studies for the first time. During that period, I worked in several restaurants in Vancouver that closely aligned with my vision and values. As for many post-covid, I made a move, and I came to Edmonton to pursue my MSc in Urban and Regional Planning. I now work at the City of Fort Saskatchewan as a Planner I and teach wine classes as well.

Contributor
Contributor to UBC’s only editorial online publication with an international purview, featuring multi-disciplinary pieces on various political topics. Non-partisan and completely independent, the Envoy was created in order to fill the sizable gap in the international political discourse on campus, as well as to provide publishing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
Research Assistant (History)
Worked with Dr. Heidi Tworek on media research pertaining to her investigation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation's role in Canadian international diplomatic ventures, domestic politics, and municipal . Server
Speaker Of The Council
Responsible for ensuring that biweekly AUS meetings occur according to standardized rules of procedure.Conducts all meetings such that decorum and order are maintained and that meetings occur according to set agenda and schedules.
Vice-President Logistics
Responsibilities are diverse, centered around all logistical and organization features of the club. This includes regular club functions (including General Body Meetings and biweekly Executive meetings) as well as conference-specific logistics (including transportation, hotel bookings, etc).Several of our key initiatives require substantial VPL involvement, such as our Mini-MUN for beginner Model United Nations delegates and club members. These responsibilities include working with internal individuals (Finance and Internal, for example) and members as well as external bodies (for room bookings, for example). Working on grant applications with the VP-Finance is a critical part of the Logistics portfolio. Because MUNSA sends delegates to some of the top conferences worldwide, grant applications allow delegates to participate who would otherwise be financially restricted.Overall, the VP-Logistics ensures the smooth function of the club and its various initiatives. Also completed several design projects for MUNSA, including a full branding package and the layout for design for the coming years. Examples of the portfolio are below:
Director Of Public Relations
Responsible for UBCMUN's communication with the public. Tasks include:- Planning and executing a plan for the position- Updating social media on a regular, consistent basis- Ensuring that anticipation for the conference is reflected in social media
Vice-President External
As VP-External for IRSA, I was in charge of reaching out and coordinating relations with all external bodies and organizations. This involved communicating with a variety of groups to coordinate traditional events. Certified Barista

Delegate
Attended various Model United Nations conferences representing UBC.This required high levels of preparation and organization. MUN requires intense research on the stance and views of a particular country on a given topic relevant to the Council or Organization involved; research culminates in the production of a position paper and in the quality of debate and diplomacy exhibited at the conference. Awards are offered to the most prominent among the committees; awards are generally highly limited, so reception of an award is a great honour, though not being offered an award is not always a suggestion of inadequacy in committee.Major Conferences attended and awards received:- National MUN New York City 2014: UNIDO - Ukraine. Outstanding Delegate. Outstanding Delegation.- UBCMUN 2014: WHO - Sweden. Honourable Mention.- National MUN Portland 2014: UNEP - Sierra Leone. Outstanding Delegation.Previous conferences attended (high-school level):- VMUN 2013, CFMUN 2013, BCMUN-V 2013, BCMUN-H 2013, SWCMUN 2012, BCMUN 2011
