A computer nerd who loves nature. My journey with programming languages started early, when I was 12. Later I decided to become a biologist and apply technology to that end. I have worked for over 12 years on scientific research in ecology and evolutionary biology involving large datasets. This included long-term (>20 years) time series and laboratory studies that used computer vision to track movement. In addition to supervising over 15 students and publishing more than 20 papers, I also authored a book (which won a literature prize) and managed 3 teams and projects. In early 2022, I happily transitioned to work as a data scientist, focused on crop insurance. My solutions often involve statistical modeling, machine learning, REST APIs and web apps, deployed into AWS serverless infrastructure.I have been solving business problems using various tools, but primarily relying on Python, R Shiny, SQL (PostgreSQL/PostGIS), and Power BI. Breaking communication barriers between business and IT teams might easily be my most valued skill, as I can easily understand business needs and convert it into technical requirements.I am truly fluent in English, and I can communicate in German and Spanish as well. I lived in the USA and Germany for a year each and had wonderful experiences in both countries.Curious about my level of nerdyness?
