• Respond to fire alarms emergency medical incidents such as auto accidents, gas system leaks and animals in distress.• Preventing, combating, and extinguishing fires with the goal of protecting lives, the environment, property, and evidence at fire scenes.• Operating all types of tools and equipment used for fire operations and rescue equipment safely and effectively.• Performing search and rescue of individuals in hazardous environments including collapsed buildings, auto accidents, hazardous material spills and confined spaces.• Analyzing patient needs and provide appropriate medical care until relieved by higher level of care.• Analyzing hazardous situations and thinking of quick solutions and actions.• Force entry of premises for firefighting, rescue and salvage operations, use of chemical fire extinguishers, bars, hooks, lines, and other equipment.• Raise and climb ladders to gain access to upper levels of buildings.• Maintaining a clean environment in the department facilities, emergency medical equipment, and pumping apparatus• Ventilate burning structures• Participating in training classes and drills.• Performing general maintenance on firefighting equipment.

• Vigilant on the beach scaning the ocean for drowning victims or swimmers in distress.• Notify beach goers of ordinances put up by the city of HHI.• Provide first aid.• Listen and responded promptly to radio commands.• Provide customer service to best assist beach goers.• Have rental equipment or highchair set-up by 9am and put away at 5pm.• Completed other duties as assigned.

• Host courses through American Red Cross for Lifeguarding, Water Safety, First-Aid, CPR, and Responding to Emergencies (RTE).• Set-up and research proper courses• Providing for the health and safety of participants by always ensuring: - Manikins have been properly cleaned according to “Recommendations on Manikin Decontamination." - Course equipment is clean and in good working order. - Participants are aware of health precautions and guidelines concerning the transmission of infectious diseases. - All participants have the physical ability to perform the skills. - The classroom and all practice areas are free of hazards.• Familiarization with and knowing how to effectively use program materials and training equipment.• Informing participants about knowledge and skills evaluation procedures and course completion requirements.• Creating a non-threatening environment that is conducive to achieving the learning objectives.• Preparing participants to meet the course objectives.• Conducting the pre-course session to determine if participants have the prerequisite knowledge and skills to take the course.• Providing participants an opportunity to evaluate the course.• Supervising participants while they are practicing course skills and providing timely, positive and corrective feedback as they learn.• Evaluating participants as they perform skills, focusing on critical performance steps as described in the skill charts.• Being prepared to answer participants’ questions or knowing where to find the answers.• Administering and scoring the final written exams.• Conducting courses in a manner consistent with course design.• Teaching courses as designed.• Closing the course in the Red Cross Learning Center within the specified time frame• Abiding by the obligations in the Instructor Handbook
